Project to Develop a Fixed-Wing UAV with an AI-Powered Autopilot

Yüksek İrtifa

Talent Program

The objective of this project is for our prospective engineers to gain early exposure to the industry's most current and advanced SoC (System on Chip) architectures, with the goal of developing an avionics system that serves as a "flight and mission computer" on a single chip. Throughout the process, the utilization of the Edge AI concept in aircraft applications will be extensively researched and actively implemented.

Our teams will assume responsibilities utilizing an interdisciplinary approach across critical areas, including sensor reading, motor driving, inter-avionics communication, Ground Control Station (GCS) communication, user interface design, and the facilitation of AI-supported autonomy via camera systems. Rather than producing a flying prototype, the ultimate expectation of this project is the scratch-built design and preparation of a hardware-in-the-loop test bench setup, wherein all subsystems operate in a fully integrated manner.

Criteria and Expectations

  • Proficiency in software development utilizing C and C++ programming languages.
  • Knowledge of Real-Time Operating Systems (particularly FreeRTOS), or a high level of motivation to gain practical experience in this domain.
  • A strong interest in Edge AI technologies, multicore processor architectures, and inter-core communication mechanisms.
  • Fundamental practical or theoretical competence in motor driving, sensor reading, data interpretation, and control algorithms (MATLAB).
  • A solid comprehension of fundamental communication protocols and the principles of data transfer between subsystems.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for teamwork, with a readiness to take an active role in system design, integration, and problem-solving processes.
