Turbofan Mechanical Design Engineer
General Qualifications
- Graduated from the departments of Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aircraft Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Materials Engineering,
- Possesses theoretical knowledge in machine elements, material mechanics, and construction,
- Knowledgeable about strength, statics, dynamics, heat transfer, and materials,
- Possesses theoretical knowledge in rotor dynamics, the strength of static and rotating components, heat transfer, aerodynamics, and fluid mechanics,
- Knowledgeable about sheet metal forming and welding methods,
- Knowledgeable about manufacturing methods such as laser cutting and additive manufacturing,
- Knowledgeable about the working principles of gas turbine engines and the functions of their components,
- Experienced in 3D modeling programs (preferably CATIA),
- Has the technical proficiency and technical English knowledge to understand aviation and space standards and regulations (e.g., FAA, EASA, MIL, SAE),
- Knowledgeable about geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T),
- Possesses skills in using general engineering tools and programs (e.g., MS Office),
- Follows sector developments and has an innovative mindset,
- Able to work in coordination with other teams related to areas of responsibility,
- Has effective communication skills and is inclined towards teamwork,
- For male candidates, must have at least 2 years of exemption from military service,
- Resides or can reside in Istanbul.
Preferred
- Holds a Master's or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aircraft Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Materials Engineering,
- Has at least 2 years of previous work or project experience similar to the related job,
- Experienced in mechanical strength, fatigue, vibration, and heat transfer,
- Experienced in the design of turbine, combustion chamber, and afterburner areas,
- Knowledgeable and experienced in the design and calculations of combustion chambers, afterburners, fuel nozzles, and engine nozzle systems,
- Able to perform kinematic modeling and analysis with ADAMS or Recurdyn programs,
- Experienced in combustion chamber and afterburner design and life calculations,
- Experienced in areas such as combustion regimes and physics, combustion dynamics, film cooling, and fuel injection,
- Knowledgeable and experienced in bearing fatigue, bearing lubrication, bearing dynamics, contact fatigue, and micro modifications,
- Knowledgeable and experienced in GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and technical drawing,
- Experienced in gas turbine engines and/or the aviation sector,
- Experienced in the design of engine fan and compressor regions,
- Experienced in the design modules of CATIA (Part Design, Generative Shape Design, Generative Sheetmetal Design, Drafting, Functional Tolerancing & Dimensioning),
- Knowledgeable about manufacturing methods (Machining, Casting, Welding, Plastic Forming, Additive Manufacturing, Composite Manufacturing, etc.) and able to design accordingly,
We are looking for team members for the position of Turbofan Mechanical Design Engineer with these qualifications.
Job Description
Considering project dynamics, the following assignments will be made:
- Designing engine components according to requirements,
- Collaborating with analysis and load teams during the extraction of loading conditions,
- Designing structural connections and accessory interfaces,
- Determining fan and compressor disk structures and connection methods,
- Designing combustion chamber, afterburner, liner, film cooling, fuel nozzles, and igniter systems,
- Performing necessary kinematic modeling and analysis in the engine nozzle,
- Designing the vane and disk designs of turbine and compressor systems,
- Designing bearing housing areas and sealing elements,
- Selecting all necessary connectors and standard components for product assembly, recording them in the library, and following up on the procurement processes,
- Preparing and keeping design documents for the designed product up to date,
- Performing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing required for part manufacturing,
- Keeping track of part revision records,
- Carrying out design activities considering technical requirements, regulations, analysis, and test results.
