Turbofan Mechanical Design Engineer
General Qualifications
- Graduated from Mechanical, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Aircraft, Mechatronics, or Materials Engineering departments of universities,
- Strong theoretical background in machine elements, mechanics of materials, and structural design,
- Knowledgeable in strength of materials, statics, dynamics, heat transfer, and material science,
- Solid theoretical understanding in rotor dynamics, structural integrity of static and rotating components, heat transfer, aerodynamics, and fluid mechanics,
- Familiar with sheet metal forming and welding methods,
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as laser cutting and additive manufacturing,
- Understanding of gas turbine engine operating principles and the functions of its components,
- Experience in 3D modeling software (preferably CATIA V5),
- Technical proficiency and command of technical English sufficient to comprehend aerospace standards and regulations (e.g., FAA, EASA, MIL, SAE),
- Knowledgeable in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T),
- Proficient in using general engineering tools and software (e.g., MS Office),
- Follows developments in the industry and has an innovative mindset,
- Able to work in coordination with other teams within areas of responsibility,
- Possesses effective communication skills and a team-oriented approach,
- For male candidates, must have no military obligations for at least the next two years,
- Residing in or willing to relocate to Istanbul.
Preferred
- Holds a Master's or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Aircraft, Mechatronics, or Materials Engineering,
- At least 2 years of professional or project experience in a relevant field,
- Experience in strength analysis, fatigue, vibration, and heat transfer,
- Experience in the design of fan, compressor, turbine, combustion chamber, or afterburner sections,
- Knowledge and experience in oil and fuel lines inside the engine, bearing lubrication, and crankcase region design and calculations,
- Experience in combustion regimes and physics, combustion dynamics, film cooling, and fuel injection,
- Knowledge and experience in bearing fatigue, lubrication, dynamics, contact mechanics, and micro-modifications,
- Proficient in GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and technical drawing,
- Experience in gas turbine engines and/or the aerospace sector,
- Experience with CATIA design modules (Part Design, Generative Shape Design, Generative Sheetmetal Design, Drafting, Functional Tolerancing & Dimensioning),
- Knowledgeable in manufacturing processes (Machining, Casting, Welding, Additive Manufacturing, Composite Manufacturing, etc.) and capable of designing accordingly.

Job Description
Assignments will be made based on project dynamics and may include the following responsibilities:
- Designing engine components in accordance with specified requirements,
- Collaborating with analysis and load teams during the load definition phase,
- Designing structural connections and accessory interfaces,
- Determining fan and compressor disk structures and connection methods,
- Designing combustion chamber and afterburner components such as liners, cooling systems, and casings,
- Designing turbine blade cooling systems, sealing solutions, and connection interfaces,
- Designing exhaust nozzle systems and conducting necessary kinematic modeling and analyses,
- Designing blades and disks for fan and compressor systems,
- Designing bearing housing regions and sealing elements,
- Selecting all required fasteners and standard parts, managing their registration and procurement processes,
- Preparing design documentation for the components designed,
- Applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing for parts required for manufacturing,
- Executing design activities by taking into account technical requirements, regulations, and the results of analysis and testing.
