Engine

At Baykar, the pioneering force of the National Technology Initiative, we develop domestic and national high-tech Unmanned Aerial Vehicle systems and make a global impact with proven platforms. From R&D to production, our end-to-end engineering approach allows us to execute projects that push boundaries.

Our unit develops advanced engine technologies, managing design, materials, manufacturing, quality, and testing processes through an integrated approach.

Purpose of the Position

We are looking for team members who can design performance models of internal combustion engines (piston and gas turbine) in both zero- and one-dimensional forms, model subsystems in one dimension to create a global model, reduce this global model using methods such as machine learning, model environmental units in simulation (sensors, actuators, atmospheric models, etc.), and apply data processing techniques when calibrating these models.

What Awaits You?

  • Developing, analyzing, and optimizing performance and subsystem (fuel, lubrication, cooling, thermal, etc.) models of internal combustion engines,
  • Determining performance and subsystem limits and identifying operational ranges of components used in the systems,
  • Collaborating with teams during the engine development process to optimize systems and providing feedback to contribute to the process,
  • Validating designed performance and subsystem models with component and engine-level test and analysis results and performing necessary calibrations,
  • Reviewing test data and converting it into meaningful insights,
  • Coordinating and monitoring test processes with test teams for model validation,
  • Creating a digital twin of internal combustion engines including performance and subsystems,
  • Developing real-time models of internal combustion engines using AI and machine learning,
  • Creating simulations of internal combustion engines and user interfaces for simulations,
  • Reporting technical work in accordance with company procedures,
  • Working in coordination with other engineering disciplines.

General Qualifications

  • Graduated from universities in Aeronautics, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering,
  • Strong theoretical background in Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, and Aerodynamics,
  • Interested in aviation engines, turbo machinery, and piston engines,
  • Strong in data analysis and numerical modeling,
  • Preferably proficient in at least one programming language (MATLAB, Python, etc.),
  • Preferably knowledgeable in optimization and artificial neural networks,
  • Advanced technical English proficiency,
  • Able to prepare clear and professional reports in accordance with company procedures,
  • Open to innovations and committed to continuous self-improvement,
  • Strong communication skills, capable of working individually and in teams,
  • Able to develop new problem-solving approaches and think analytically,
  • Able to adapt to a high-paced work environment.

Preferred Additional Qualifications

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (MATLAB, Python, etc.),
  • Knowledge in optimization and artificial neural networks.
