Closed-Loop Wind Tunnel Design and Analysis Project

Yüksek İrtifa

Talent Program

This project encompasses the engineering design, performance analysis, and optimization of a closed-circuit wind tunnel for low-speed aerodynamic testing. Throughout the project, prospective candidates will conduct comprehensive studies on the sizing of fundamental wind tunnel components, flow quality improvement initiatives, and the specification of subsystem components.

The primary objectives of the project include defining the geometry of the closed-circuit loop (test section, contraction, diffuser, turning vanes) and achieving a low-turbulence flow ($Tu < 0.1\%$) by utilizing honeycomb and screen packages. Furthermore, candidates will perform critical aerodynamic analyses, such as pressure drop calculations, fan power requirements, cooling load determinations, and flow performance evaluations (velocity profile, turbulence intensity).
