Spring 2026 Semester | Engine Technologies - Materials and Special Processes

Engine Technologies Unit is responsible for the mechanical, structural, and aerodynamic designs, analyses, material selection and developments, manufacturing development processes, and execution of testing activities for the gas turbine engines and engine accessory units of unmanned aerial vehicle systems produced under Baykar Technology.

Material Development R&D

  • Identify material requirements, conduct material selection design within the scope of material database and literature review. Determine the damage mechanisms that engine components are exposed to.
  • Be proficient in potential manufacturing processes of parts in the engine and design the most suitable process for part production.
  • Identify and apply surface treatments that will provide superior material properties based on the operating conditions of the parts.
  • Record manufacturing processes, ensure process optimization studies, and report the results.
  • Research and develop machining, welding, sheet metal forming, and advanced manufacturing processes for designed engine parts.
  • Research and develop process parameters in accordance with quality requirements. Investigate CMM, non-contact measurement methods, and other tolerance measurement technologies.

Development of Special Processes

  • Conduct literature research on special post-process and pre-process heat treatments in aviation, and review their applications.
  • Conduct market and literature research on special welding-soldering methods.
  • Perform process optimization for surface treatments.
  • Investigate materials to be used in special process systems, including production-processing-heat treatment-surface treatment-welding fixtures.
  • Perform process-parameter optimization for production with plastic deformation.
  • Plan and make method selections for machining operations like drilling for engine parts to be produced.
  • Detect potential errors in manufacturing processes and determine solutions for these errors.

Students currently enrolled in the departments of Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering at universities, and who are interested in doing an internship in the Engine Technologies department of our company, may apply to this unit.
