Within the scope of this project, a supersonic air intake will be designed for a designated unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) configuration, and a parallel cooling system capable of meeting the specified cooling capacity requirements will be developed. Prospective candidates will work end-to-end on alternative designs, such as diverterless supersonic inlets (DSI), active-ramp diverted systems, suction/spill door/bypass systems, or dorsal (top-mounted) air intake systems.
During the design of the engine air intake and cooling system, the external aerodynamics and radar cross-section requirements of the aircraft will be meticulously taken into account. Ultimately, aerothermal analyses will be performed for the inlet and outlet geometries positioned at appropriate locations within the engine bay to verify that the system provides sufficient heat dissipation.
